A research note on the Center for Digital Government's 2024 adoption benchmark, shared during my work with the Center for Public Sector AI.
The benchmark examined state and local government use of generative AI, including adoption, governance, and implementation barriers. It is part of the research trail behind my continuing work on responsible public-sector AI.
The questions still matter: where is AI being used, how are agencies governing it, and what keeps experimentation from becoming sustained operational value?
This is a contextual research note, not a reproduction of the original survey or its underlying dataset. The original PDF has not been included in this release; no survey statistics are asserted here.
